What is resilience? It is the ability to bounce back from life’s stress and challenges.
But it doesn’t just stop there…it is also the ability to come back from these challenges a little stronger and wiser than before.
I believe each of us has a unique toolkit that holds the skills and abilities to overcome our obstacles; sometimes we need a little help remembering and discovering what they are.
What is it that makes some people crumble in the face of adversity and others seemingly flourish? There are people among us that have traits and characteristics that enable them to not only weather the storm but also sail the seas afterward even stronger than before.
I believe that resilient people navigate life’s twists and turns and possess certain traits and attitudes that let them pick themselves up and keep going through life feeling less burdened then others.
Traits like positivity and social engagement have been researched to contribute to how well we can cope with things like job stress, illness, grief, and relationship issues. I strive to provide a confidential therapeutic relationship that is both safe and supportive, where you can feel free to discuss your struggles as well as your strengths.
I am deeply committed to helping you develop the tools you need to address your difficulties and better understand yourself and finally, to live a more fulfilling life.
Where are you in your own personal journey with resilience? How do you deal with setbacks and adversities? What are your coping strategies to get through tough times?

I like to think of it as an investment in yourself
This may be the start of a journey of greater self-awareness and personal growth that will provide long lasting positive life changes. Here are some common questions and answers to help you understand the process of therapy and what your investment in yourself will bring you.
What can I expect?
Therapy can help you achieve understanding and self-awareness of the problems that have kept you feeling stuck for a long time. I will work collaboratively with you to help you gain a sense of control over the things that are holding you back from living an authentic life and reaching your highest potential. Often fear is stopping us and all it takes is a step in the right direction.
How long will it take?
The answer depends mostly on the problems that you want to address in your therapy. Some problems respond very well to a shorter course of therapy such as 6-12 sessions, “I want to be able to work on setting and keeping boundaries with a coworker, boss or family member.” Or “I want to learn a better communication style with my children.” Problems that are more generalized such as, “I am so unhappy and have no idea how to change this”, may take a longer period of time to overcome.
How long is a therapy session?
Typically, individual sessions are 50 minutes long. Initially it may be beneficial for the session to be up to 90 minutes long. Goals for the sessions are mutually agreed upon.
What are the costs involved?
Please feel free to contact me directly with any questions about my fees, fee schedule or insurance coverage. Fees are due at the end of each session by e-transfer. My fees may be eligible to be covered fully or in part by many extended health benefits insurance policies. Please contact your insurance provider for more information. Counselling services are not covered by O.H.I.P.
What to expect in the first session?
The first session allows you to feel if this is right for you. It also lets you see if I provide the kind energy and therapeutic style in the session that you feel comfortable with. It gives me time to understand what your specific needs are and to share my thoughts on how best I can help. There is no commitment for you at this point other than establishing whether or not you feel you want to continue based on what you have discovered in this first meeting.
What is your cancellation policy?
